Fill 'er Up

When it comes to refills, I'm a "yes" man all the way. I try never to respond "no" when a server asks, "More coffee?" To say "no" would be an insult - not just to the server or the good host offering the coffee, but to the Fates themselves. You would dare to reject this wonderful, open gesture? You might just as well burn a winning lottery ticket, turn away from true love, thumb your nose at world peace. To say "yes" to more coffee is to say "thank you" to the universe.

    I can say yes up until around 7pm. Coffee any later than that keeps me awake until 2am.

    Thanks for that tip, Diane. Now I have something productive I can do during those agonizing moments waiting for the coffee to brew. Drinking coffee drinking coffee drinking coffee... yes, I like it. It's like the word 'pancakes.' Just seeing that word always makes me happy and puts me in the mood for pancakes. Pancakes.

    uh-oh - Dan is the 'Made to Stick' author, Gretchen Rubin the 'Happiness' author. You can have your pancakes; I need some coffee.

    And for heaven's sake, get yourself an auxillary machine. Add a tiny dab of time management and presto - no more agonizing moments waiting for the next brewed pot. Check with your accountant; you may be able to claim it as a business or medical expense :)

    KIDDING. I'm kidding. And never, ever take tax advice from someone drinking decaf.
